Traditional English Hunting to Hounds with an Australian Backdrop
Hunting to hounds began in Australia in 1811, and since it's introduction The Sydney Hunt Club has hunted periodically in the Sydney and Southern Highlands areas. Hunting is a great non competitive day for riders as well as non-riders, and is also a great training ground for eventers wanting to improve fitness and give horses exposure to different environments.
The Sydney Hunt Club currently has 9 couple (18 hounds) and this year welcomes a new Huntsman, Donnchadh Brown. Donnchadh is a very keen and dedicated hunter from Ireland who has hunted with a variety of clubs throughout Ireland and America and is now settled in Australia with his wife Emma.
The Club is proud to be a member of Equestrian Australia and actively promotes rider & horse safety. If you are keen to hunt but do not have a horse, please contact Hamilton Barber on 0417 553 025 to discuss daily horse hire.
